Fine Oak 10 yo

Age: 10 yo

Strength: 40%

Bottler: Distillery

Tasting notes:

n: spirit. A trace of flowers of some sort. Raw barley. Better than the sherried but still not much. A bit of vanilla

t: a little malt. Caramel again. Not a lot else.

f: short, thank goodness

Comment: marginally (only marginally) better than the sherried, but for different reasons. No wonder they sherry Macallan - without it there's almost nothing

SMWS 24.72 'Classic sherry speyside'

Age: 12 yo

Vintage: 1991

Strength: 56.5%

Bottler: Scotch Malt Whisky Society

Tasting Notes:

n: Hmmm, much better than the ob's. Treacle pudding with custard. Walnuts.

t: Caramelised oranges. Treacle again. Much more complex.

f: quite long and warming

Water makes a difference

n: sorry ladies. This smells of sperm Like Knockando.

t: Oranges again, probably slightly seared under the grill. Tate & Lyle syrup drizzled on porridge

f: quite long and rather complex with flavours I can't quite identify at the moment.

Comments: Not what I expect from Macallan. I may get some more SMWS bottlings

Update: Trying this again some time later I find traces of sulphur now :(
